# IMb Scanner App vs Bar Code Reader ™

The clearest difference is review sentiment: IMb Scanner App at 59% against Bar Code Reader ™'s 20%. IMb Scanner App also leads on monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). Bar Code Reader ™'s advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 2 months) and rating (4.6 vs 4.4). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. IMb Scanner App sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Bar Code Reader ™ sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Bar Code Reader ™ holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 59 and 63 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 59% of IMb Scanner App's written reviews are positive against 20% of Bar Code Reader ™'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

IMb Scanner App ships an update every 2 months, Bar Code Reader ™ every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
