# Super Simple Diary vs Journal

The clearest difference is ads: Journal at none against Super Simple Diary's shown. Super Simple Diary's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (11 vs 1). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Super Simple Diary sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Journal sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Super Simple Diary against 5.0 for Journal. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Super Simple Diary has 11 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Super Simple Diary ships an update every 2 months, Journal every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
