# GW Reader vs Coread

The clearest difference is rating: Coread at 4.4 against GW Reader's 3.8. Coread also leads on ratings volume (107 vs 8). GW Reader's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 5 weeks). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GW Reader sells 7 one-off in-app purchases and Coread sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Coread holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Coread has 107 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 0% and 0% positive.

GW Reader ships an update every 2 weeks, Coread every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
