# Narwal vs BitLocal

The clearest difference is rating: BitLocal at 5.0 against Narwal's 3.7. Narwal's advantage is ratings volume (625 vs 6) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 5 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

BitLocal holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Narwal has 625 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Narwal ships an update every 2 weeks, BitLocal every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
