# Short Circuit vs 9amla

The clearest difference is monetization model: 9amla at free with in-app purchases against Short Circuit's subscription. 9amla also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Short Circuit's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 11 days) and ratings volume (128 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Short Circuit sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and 9amla sells 5 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

9amla holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Short Circuit has 128 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Short Circuit ships an update every 2 days, 9amla every 11 days. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
