# SKUL vs TapNote

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: SKUL at none against TapNote's 10. SKUL also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.6). TapNote's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (17 vs 1). On price, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TapNote sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. SKUL asks for nothing beyond the download.

SKUL holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TapNote has 17 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

SKUL ships an update every 2 months, TapNote weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
