# Matching Tale vs Tropic Match

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Matching Tale at 100% against Tropic Match's 50%. Matching Tale also leads on iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). Tropic Match's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 3.8) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 21 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Matching Tale sells 10 one-off in-app purchases and Tropic Match sells 14 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Tropic Match holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tropic Match has 52 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Matching Tale's written reviews are positive against 50% of Tropic Match's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Matching Tale ships an update every 21 months, Tropic Match fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on September 21, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
