# Blobs vs Salsa Chat

The clearest difference is update cadence: Salsa Chat at weekly against Blobs's every 3 weeks. Salsa Chat also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 86%) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.0). Blobs's advantage is ratings volume (56 vs 5). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Blobs against 4.8 for Salsa Chat. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Blobs has 56 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 86% of Blobs's written reviews are positive against 100% of Salsa Chat's.

Blobs ships an update every 3 weeks, Salsa Chat weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
