# Wacky Genes vs Thread and Beads

The clearest difference is rating: Thread and Beads at 5.0 against Wacky Genes's 3.9. Wacky Genes's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Wacky Genes sells 23 one-off in-app purchases and Thread and Beads sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Thread and Beads holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Wacky Genes has 37 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Wacky Genes ships an update every 5 days, Thread and Beads every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
