# Symbols vs OpeningBook

The clearest difference is device support: Symbols at 3 against OpeningBook's 1. Symbols also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Symbols sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and OpeningBook sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
