# Lek vs Opal Chat

The clearest difference is update cadence: Opal Chat at every 2 days against Lek's every 3 weeks. Opal Chat also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and review sentiment (100% vs 77%). Lek's advantage is ratings volume (83 vs 6) and device support (4 vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Lek sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month and Opal Chat sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Opal Chat holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Lek has 83 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 77% of Lek's written reviews are positive against 100% of Opal Chat's.

Lek ships an update every 3 weeks, Opal Chat every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
