# SphinxMD vs Dtecto

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: SphinxMD at none against Dtecto's 2. SphinxMD also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). Dtecto's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 9 months) and ratings volume (10 vs 1). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Dtecto sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. SphinxMD asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for SphinxMD against 5.0 for Dtecto. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dtecto has 10 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

SphinxMD ships an update every 9 months, Dtecto fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
