# Rocket VPN vs Security Master

The clearest difference is rating: Security Master at 4.4 against Rocket VPN's 3.1. Security Master also leads on review sentiment (55% vs 15%) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). Rocket VPN's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 11 days). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Rocket VPN sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days and Security Master sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Security Master holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Security Master has 4K ratings behind it against 98, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 15% of Rocket VPN's written reviews are positive against 55% of Security Master's.

Rocket VPN ships an update every 4 days, Security Master every 11 days. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
