# HotTunnel VPN vs Cable VPN

The clearest difference is rating: Cable VPN at 4.6 against HotTunnel VPN's 3.6. Cable VPN also leads on ratings volume (686 vs 40) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). HotTunnel VPN's advantage is review sentiment (93% vs 69%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. HotTunnel VPN sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Cable VPN sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Cable VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cable VPN has 686 ratings behind it against 40, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 93% of HotTunnel VPN's written reviews are positive against 69% of Cable VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
