# Scrypted vs SEM

The clearest difference is rating: Scrypted at 5.0 against SEM's 3.4. On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Scrypted holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 16 and 11 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of Scrypted's written reviews are positive against 38% of SEM's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Scrypted ships an update every 3 weeks, SEM every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 24, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
