# Scribe AI vs AI Chat

Scribe AI and AI Chat both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 90% of AI Chat's written reviews are positive against 43% of Scribe AI's. AI Chat also leads on price (Free vs $3.99) and ratings volume (2K vs 39). Scribe AI's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10) and ads (none vs shown). On rating, update cadence and device support there is nothing between them.

AI Chat is free to download; Scribe AI costs $3.99 up front. AI Chat sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Scribe AI asks for nothing beyond the download.

Scribe AI holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AI Chat has 2K ratings behind it against 39, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 43% of Scribe AI's written reviews are positive against 90% of AI Chat's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Scribe AI ships an update fortnightly, AI Chat every 4 weeks. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
