# Tracepad vs btkbd

The clearest difference is monetization model: btkbd at free against Tracepad's free with in-app purchases. Tracepad's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs fortnightly) and rating (4.3 vs 3.9). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Tracepad sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and btkbd sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Tracepad holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.9. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 16 and 16 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 69% of Tracepad's written reviews are positive against 71% of btkbd's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Tracepad ships an update every 3 days, btkbd fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
