# Forma vs Word Editor

The clearest difference is ads: Word Editor at none against Forma's shown. Word Editor also leads on iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.0). Forma's advantage is review sentiment (70% vs 35%) and ratings volume (26K vs 1.5K). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Forma sells 17 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Word Editor sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Forma against 4.7 for Word Editor. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Forma has 26K ratings behind it against 1.5K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 70% of Forma's written reviews are positive against 35% of Word Editor's.

Forma ships an update every 3 weeks, Word Editor fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 25, 2026.
