# WatchType vs Magic Notes

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Magic Notes at none against WatchType's 3. Magic Notes also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). WatchType's advantage is ratings volume (168 vs 1) and rating (4.3 vs 4.0). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. WatchType sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Magic Notes asks for nothing beyond the download.

WatchType holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: WatchType has 168 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
