# Appstart vs VPN

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Appstart at none against VPN's 2. Appstart also leads on review sentiment (86% vs 57%). VPN's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.2) and update cadence (every 9 days vs monthly). On price, ratings volume, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Appstart asks for nothing beyond the download.

VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 437 and 426 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of Appstart's written reviews are positive against 57% of VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Appstart ships an update monthly, VPN every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
