# BookWatch vs BionRead

The clearest difference is ads: BionRead at none against BookWatch's shown. BionRead also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). BookWatch's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs every 7 months) and ratings volume (14K vs 1). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BookWatch sells 22 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month and BionRead sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

BionRead holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BookWatch has 14K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

BookWatch ships an update every 3 days, BionRead every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
