# BookWatch vs HopeScroll

The clearest difference is review sentiment: HopeScroll at 100% against BookWatch's 51%. HopeScroll also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). BookWatch's advantage is ratings volume (14K vs 5) and chart position (#39 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BookWatch sells 22 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month and HopeScroll sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

HopeScroll holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BookWatch has 14K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 51% of BookWatch's written reviews are positive against 100% of HopeScroll's.

BookWatch ships an update every 3 days, HopeScroll every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
