# ZenReader vs 開心閱讀

The clearest difference is rating: ZenReader at 4.7 against 開心閱讀's 3.8. ZenReader also leads on ratings volume (374 vs 5) and update cadence (every 10 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ZenReader sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per year and 開心閱讀 sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ZenReader holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ZenReader has 374 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two.

ZenReader ships an update every 10 days, 開心閱讀 every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
