# Scriptorium vs AI Writer

The clearest difference is ratings volume: AI Writer at 1.1K against Scriptorium's 1. AI Writer also leads on review sentiment (62% vs 50%). Scriptorium's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and update cadence (monthly vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scriptorium sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $29.99 per month and AI Writer sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Scriptorium holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AI Writer has 1.1K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Scriptorium's written reviews are positive against 62% of AI Writer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Scriptorium ships an update monthly, AI Writer every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
