# Scriptorium vs Elephas

The clearest difference is rating: Scriptorium at 5.0 against Elephas's 2.5. Scriptorium also leads on review sentiment (50% vs 26%). Elephas's advantage is ratings volume (12 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scriptorium sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $29.99 per month and Elephas sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Scriptorium holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Elephas has 12 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 50% of Scriptorium's written reviews are positive against 26% of Elephas's.

Scriptorium ships an update monthly, Elephas every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 12, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
