# Files vs FilesPlay

The clearest difference is rating: Files at 4.6 against FilesPlay's 3.0. Files also leads on ratings volume (329 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Files sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and FilesPlay sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Files holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Files has 329 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
