# Opal Chat vs AI Writer

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Opal Chat at 100% against AI Writer's 62%. Opal Chat also leads on update cadence (every 2 days vs every 2 months) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). AI Writer's advantage is ratings volume (1.1K vs 6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Opal Chat sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.99 per month and AI Writer sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Opal Chat holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AI Writer has 1.1K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of Opal Chat's written reviews are positive against 62% of AI Writer's.

Opal Chat ships an update every 2 days, AI Writer every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
