# SmartScanner vs Auto Cleanup

The clearest difference is monetization model: SmartScanner at free with in-app purchases against Auto Cleanup's subscription. SmartScanner also leads on ads (none vs shown). Auto Cleanup's advantage is update cadence (every 8 days vs every 2 months) and review sentiment (56% vs 40%). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SmartScanner sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Auto Cleanup sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for SmartScanner against 4.6 for Auto Cleanup. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1.2K and 4.6K respectively. Written reviews are what separate them: 40% of SmartScanner's written reviews are positive against 56% of Auto Cleanup's.

SmartScanner ships an update every 2 months, Auto Cleanup every 8 days. Both last shipped on October 30, 2026.
