# EdrawMax vs Genogram Creator

The clearest difference is rating: Genogram Creator at 5.0 against EdrawMax's 3.4. Genogram Creator also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 6 weeks). EdrawMax's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and ratings volume (33 vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. EdrawMax sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days and Genogram Creator sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $49.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Genogram Creator holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: EdrawMax has 33 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

EdrawMax ships an update every 6 weeks, Genogram Creator every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
