# Hardcover.app vs Book Tracking

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Book Tracking at 100% against Hardcover.app's 52%. Book Tracking also leads on update cadence (every 3 months vs every 6 months) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). Hardcover.app's advantage is rating (4.2 vs 3.0) and ratings volume (66 vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hardcover.app sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Book Tracking sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Hardcover.app holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hardcover.app has 66 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 52% of Hardcover.app's written reviews are positive against 100% of Book Tracking's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Hardcover.app ships an update every 6 months, Book Tracking every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
