# SimCal vs MacroTracker

The clearest difference is review sentiment: MacroTracker at 61% against SimCal's 0%. MacroTracker also leads on ratings volume (554 vs 1). SimCal's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.3). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SimCal sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per 3 months and MacroTracker sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SimCal holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MacroTracker has 554 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of SimCal's written reviews are positive against 61% of MacroTracker's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
