# Impressia for Pixelfed vs zerocam

The clearest difference is monetization model: Impressia for Pixelfed at free against zerocam's free with in-app purchases. Impressia for Pixelfed also leads on review sentiment (63% vs 53%). zerocam's advantage is rating (4.0 vs 3.7) and ratings volume (152 vs 43). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Impressia for Pixelfed sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and zerocam sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

zerocam holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.7. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 43 and 152 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 63% of Impressia for Pixelfed's written reviews are positive against 53% of zerocam's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Impressia for Pixelfed ships an update fortnightly, zerocam every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 8, 2026 respectively.
