# AI Writer vs AI Author

The clearest difference is monetization model: AI Writer at free with in-app purchases against AI Author's subscription. AI Writer also leads on ratings volume (1.1K vs 270). AI Author's advantage is review sentiment (88% vs 62%) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. AI Writer sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days and AI Author sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

AI Writer holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.6. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1.1K and 270 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of AI Writer's written reviews are positive against 88% of AI Author's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

AI Writer ships an update every 2 months, AI Author every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
