# Paperparrot vs ShiftLedger

The clearest difference is update cadence: ShiftLedger at every 2 days against Paperparrot's every 5 weeks. ShiftLedger also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Paperparrot's advantage is ratings volume (16 vs 1) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Paperparrot sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per year and ShiftLedger sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Paperparrot against 5.0 for ShiftLedger. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Paperparrot has 16 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Paperparrot ships an update every 5 weeks, ShiftLedger every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
