# AI Chat vs Ask.AI

AI Chat and Ask.AI both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 99% of Ask.AI's written reviews are positive against 39% of AI Chat's. Ask.AI also leads on update cadence (weekly vs fortnightly) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 17.0). AI Chat's advantage is ratings volume (1.9K vs 77). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. AI Chat sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Ask.AI sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for AI Chat against 4.9 for Ask.AI. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AI Chat has 1.9K ratings behind it against 77, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 39% of AI Chat's written reviews are positive against 99% of Ask.AI's.

AI Chat ships an update fortnightly, Ask.AI weekly. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
