# Migaku vs Chengyu Calendar

The clearest difference is monetization model: Migaku at free with in-app purchases against Chengyu Calendar's subscription. Migaku also leads on rating (4.4 vs 3.9) and ratings volume (377 vs 8). Chengyu Calendar's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 73%) and update cadence (every 2 days vs weekly). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Migaku sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $14.00 per month and Chengyu Calendar sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Migaku holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Migaku has 377 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 73% of Migaku's written reviews are positive against 100% of Chengyu Calendar's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Migaku ships an update weekly, Chengyu Calendar every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
