# Sunnova Catalyst vs Avid Lighting

The clearest difference is rating: Avid Lighting at 5.0 against Sunnova Catalyst's 4.6. Sunnova Catalyst's advantage is ratings volume (43 vs 3) and iOS requirement (13.4 vs 15.1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Avid Lighting holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sunnova Catalyst has 43 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Sunnova Catalyst ships an update fortnightly, Avid Lighting every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 29, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
