# Special Needs vs Smart Soloist

The clearest difference is update cadence: Smart Soloist at fortnightly against Special Needs's monthly. Special Needs's advantage is iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Special Needs sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Smart Soloist sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Special Needs ships an update monthly, Smart Soloist fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
