# ASL vs Modal Math

The clearest difference is ads: Modal Math at none against ASL's shown. Modal Math also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8). ASL's advantage is ratings volume (739 vs 2) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ASL sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month and Modal Math sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $24.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Modal Math holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ASL has 739 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

ASL ships an update fortnightly, Modal Math every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
