# Red vs OruxMaps

The clearest difference is rating: OruxMaps at 4.0 against Red's 3.4. Red's advantage is review sentiment (55% vs 36%). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Red sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and OruxMaps sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

OruxMaps holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 10 and 5 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of Red's written reviews are positive against 36% of OruxMaps's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Red ships an update every 3 weeks, OruxMaps monthly. Both last shipped on October 25, 2026.
