# Functional Groups vs Amino Acids Trainer

The clearest difference is update cadence: Amino Acids Trainer at monthly against Functional Groups's every 4 months. Functional Groups's advantage is ratings volume (21 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.6). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Functional Groups sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Amino Acids Trainer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Functional Groups against 5.0 for Amino Acids Trainer. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Functional Groups has 21 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Functional Groups ships an update every 4 months, Amino Acids Trainer monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
