# Monk Mode vs Stoic Widget

Monk Mode and Stoic Widget both sit at 4.4 stars, but that hides the real split: 70% of Monk Mode's written reviews are positive against 33% of Stoic Widget's. Stoic Widget's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Monk Mode sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Stoic Widget sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Stoic Widget holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 39 and 136 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 70% of Monk Mode's written reviews are positive against 33% of Stoic Widget's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Monk Mode ships an update every 5 months, Stoic Widget monthly. The most recent releases landed on September 25, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
