# Opentown vs Sumomo

The clearest difference is ads: Opentown at none against Sumomo's shown. Sumomo's advantage is rating (2.4 vs 2.0) and update cadence (every 6 days vs monthly). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Opentown sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $4.99 per month and Sumomo sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Sumomo holds the better App Store score, 2.4 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sumomo has 11 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Opentown ships an update monthly, Sumomo every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
