# NeatNotes vs X

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: X at none against NeatNotes's 1. X also leads on ads (none vs shown) and device support (4 vs 2). NeatNotes's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs monthly) and ratings volume (37 vs 2). On price, rating, review sentiment and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. NeatNotes sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. X asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for NeatNotes against 5.0 for X. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NeatNotes has 37 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

NeatNotes ships an update every 4 days, X monthly. The most recent releases landed on September 17, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
