# NeatNotes vs Achilles

The clearest difference is monetization model: NeatNotes at free against Achilles's subscription. NeatNotes also leads on ratings volume (39 vs 1). Achilles's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. NeatNotes sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Achilles sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for NeatNotes against 5.0 for Achilles. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NeatNotes has 39 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

NeatNotes ships an update every 4 days, Achilles weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
