# NeatNotes vs Sheldon

NeatNotes and Sheldon both sit at 5.0 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of NeatNotes's written reviews are positive against 50% of Sheldon's. NeatNotes also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and ratings volume (37 vs 1). Sheldon's advantage is iOS requirement (16.0 vs 18.2). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. NeatNotes sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Sheldon sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for NeatNotes against 5.0 for Sheldon. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NeatNotes has 37 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 100% of NeatNotes's written reviews are positive against 50% of Sheldon's.

NeatNotes ships an update every 4 days, Sheldon every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on September 17, 2026 and September 5, 2026 respectively.
