# Spill vs Recs

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Recs at 100% against Spill's 65%. Recs also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Spill's advantage is ratings volume (1.6K vs 4). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Recs holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Spill has 1.6K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 65% of Spill's written reviews are positive against 100% of Recs's.

Spill ships an update every 9 days, Recs weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
