# Primal vs Purpose OS

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Purpose OS at none against Primal's 5. Purpose OS also leads on device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.0). Primal's advantage is ratings volume (936 vs 3) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 5 weeks). On price, rating and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Primal sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Purpose OS asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Primal against 5.0 for Purpose OS. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Primal has 936 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Primal ships an update every 2 weeks, Purpose OS every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
