# Shine vs Clock Pocket

The clearest difference is monetization model: Shine at freemium against Clock Pocket's subscription. Shine also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 78%) and update cadence (every 5 days vs fortnightly). Clock Pocket's advantage is ratings volume (42 vs 4) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 14.0). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shine sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Clock Pocket sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.0 for Shine against 4.1 for Clock Pocket. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Clock Pocket has 42 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 100% of Shine's written reviews are positive against 78% of Clock Pocket's.

Shine ships an update every 5 days, Clock Pocket fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on September 25, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
