# Note X vs Notepad

The clearest difference is rating: Notepad at 5.0 against Note X's 4.6. Note X's advantage is ratings volume (23 vs 1) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Note X sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Notepad sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Notepad holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Note X has 23 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Note X ships an update every 10 months, Notepad every 11 months. The most recent releases landed on September 16, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
